Good quality, spin looks fit good although I use plastic spin locks for jam nuts. Longer length allows me to add more plates than my old 14″ handles.
Jim VJim V –
I wanted dumbbells with the rubberized grip as it feels more secure in my hand, especially with heavier weights. I purchased a pair of the 14″ dumbbells which show the width of the rubberized grip as 5.5″. The grip is actually 5″. The weight of one dumbbell and two collars is 4.6# not 4.85# as shown. As with all rubberized grips that lack a welded steel collar outside the grips themselves, these grips will compress and shorten if you tighten down the collars too much. My solution was to place extra star collars on the dumbbell [see picture] before adding the weight plates. Leave the side of the star collar with the rubberized washer facing out toward the weights. Then add the weights and when tightening the outside star collar, hold the inside star collar to keep it from moving. This ensures the weights are on securely and prevents the grip from becoming compressed. It also increses the width of the grip to almost six inches. This allows more room for your wrists to flex without banging your forearms against ten pound plates. If you don’t have extra star collars laying around, Amazon sells the collars in sets of six from this same company. As with most inexpensive dumbbells with a “chromed” finish, I fully expect the finish to flake off leaving the possibility of metal slivers. All in all, this will work well enough for my purposes.
Paul –
I don’t want to spend the money on full rack of weights, nor do I have the room. This allows me to add weights for specific exercises or as strength improves. Seems to be good quality. Just need to add in a metal washer, as the plastic ones can get bent easily.
Kalman –
Once you start getting into the 50+ lbs range, those skinny metal handles are just murder on your joints, especially if you are of a certain age, where you are offended by AARP offers in your mailbox, but you read them anyway :)Rubberized handles to the rescue! It’s not that they are soft, they feel more like hard plastic than soft rubber, but the larger diameter and the fine knurling make them comfortable and slip resistant. I love them so much that I know have the full set, four different pairs ranging from 14″ to 19.5″.One tiny flaw: when you go gorilla tightening the collars, the rubber coating separates from the metal core, the length of the rubberized part can squeeze by a good quarter inch, and the handle gets kind of “lumpy”. It would be nice if the metal core had metal collars under the rubber molding. Until then, the solution is to keep your inner gorilla in check. I double up on the star collar nuts – the benefit of owning multiple sets: I have plenty of spare parts.
Archer0915 –
These dumbell bars work great. I have had many pair in this price range (some bought at Walmart) and these appear to be the best. The nuts turn on smoothy and stay pretty tight compared to some that I have had to tape.So far we have had no issues with up to 110 pounds on each.
ZJ –
I bought these because the handles that came with my dumbel plate set was capping out at about 115 for dumbel weights so I bought these which are longer.I can fit 145 pounds worth of plates on each of these.
JoeJoe –
These are perfect! I added fat grips to work forearm strength, plus clamps as a secondary measure to keep the weights on the bar. The 24” bar is the right size for holding eight concrete/iron plates per dumbbell bar.
AntonioAntonio –
I guess I should’ve realized how huge these would be considering it said 24 inches.. lolThey are heavy which usually means built well. I decided to see how many 10 pound standard size plates I could put on it and as you can see in the picture, I managed to put 180 pounds (18 plates) on it not including bar weight.I bench press close to 500 but decided to start doing more dumbbell work instead of barbell, so these should work for a while for me.I lifted the 180 pounds and the bar didn’t flex or bend at all. Solid!I might of been able to manage one more 10lb plate on each side but I wouldn’t be comfortable having the “collars” close to the edge, but if you are comfortable with that then you could most likely make these up to 200 pounds each.
H. Brown –
Many times I was doing “flys” at home laying on my back I would have to stop and adjust the clamps on my previous dumbbells because they would slip. I don’t have to worry about that with these for flys, and I can do “around the world” and “hammer curls” with very little worry. I will admit there is some slippage (at 40lbs for the hammer curls and I have to tighten the collars between sets), but it is an exercise I would not dare to try with clamps. This spares me the trouble of getting a rack, for now.
Taiyi –
These dumbells do the job and are sturdy enough to support the weight I need (currently up to 50 lbs, although this can supposedly handle 100) I have not felt anything coming apart or ever felt anything would fall off in the middle of a workout. One issue is that as you swing the handle the rotational motion seems to slowly unscrew the weight holder so that you have to retighten it every once in a while, but this has never slipped to the extent that the weight has threaten to slip off. Another issue is that the plastic ring on the bar tends to come loose or get stuck between the weights, although I’m not sure if this is needed.
bluemax_1 –
I got the chrome 15.75″ set on 9/2020, as I wanted the longer handles to be able to load more weight than my standard length (14″) handles could accommodate.I’ve been using these 3x a week for 9 months and haven’t experienced the flaking chrome issues other folks have mentioned. The one caveat is that I bought the 15.75″ chrome handled version to be able to load more weight on them, but I realized the handles are a narrower diameter than my Rogue barbell or the handles on my regular 14″ dumbbells. The thinner handles result in increased discomfort from the greater pressure over a smaller surface when these are loaded to over 100lbs each.I just purchased the 15.75″ rubber handled versions to compare. The rubber is molded over the regular chrome handles, so the diameter of the grips IS larger, which is exactly what I wanted.I’ll update my review after using the rubber grip versions for several months, to note if there is any apparent change in quality (eg. If the new ones exhibit the flaking issue).***I’ve now been using the rubber grip 15.75″ handles for over a year, and they’ve been great.I use them 3x a week, every single week, loading and unloading them multiple times per exercise. No issues with the chrome flaking. For most exercises, I have them loaded with between 60 to 110lbs of plates, and have loaded them up with 150lbs of plates (3 x 25lb plates on each end. 6 on each dumbbell) and they’ve held up great! As mentioned, I bought the chrome handled version first, but no longer use them because the handles are skinnier than the handles of my standard barbells and dumbbells. The rubber gripped version has the rubber overmolded over the regular handles and the grip IS thicker than the chrome version, making them significantly more comfortable for the higher weight ranges.I haven’t tried the longer versions, but I can definitely recommend the rubber gripped 15.75″ version.

I’ve had these for several months. I have not seen any of the problems other reviewers have experienced with metal shaving or anything sharp that could cause cuts. The handles are firm yet comfortable and provide great grip. I’ve had at least 65lbs. of weight on these with no problems whatsoever.
Mr.Goodcat –
solid construction, extra length size handles allows a lot of weight to be added. I have used 160lbs with no issues.
AV in MD –
The large nuts roll on and off easily, the finish is even, and they are well-balanced. The handles are easy to grip, but they aren’t soft. Expensive, but well-made.

I have a near full gym at home. The very first piece of equipment was a set of adjustable plate dumbbells. Thought was great but wasn’t. The center rubber grip always was a problem. Not fixed to the center bar it would shift left to right. Skrunch down the spinning end pieces and the rubber grip got narrower. I have huge hands and my hand would smash against the plates and often triggered some nerve damage. The center rubber grip appears fixed on the A2ZCARE axle. And solid hard. And is wider to begin with. Plenty free room for my hand, finally. These are really fine adjustable dumbbell handles.

For a budget home gym, you can’t go wrong with adjustable dumbbell handles. I’ve gone up to ~124 pounds (~4 lbs handle + collars, six 10 lb plates each side) for one-arm dumbbell rows – you might be able to fit another pair of 2.5 lb plates, to give an idea of maximum capacity. No rattle, unless you drop them and the spin-lock collars loosen. Sure, you have to get creative balancing them on your lap, since they aren’t flat ended like fixed commercial grade dumbbells (e.g. Iron Grip) or fancy adjustable dumbbells (e.g., Bowflex SelectTech, PowerBlock). But pound for pound, these are a *lot* cheaper (including the cost of plates) and basically indestructible. Also, since they’re basically like pro-style dumbbells without the custom length handles and fancy endcaps, they’re the most compact and “traditional” form factor, pound for pound. Adjustable designs like Bowflex are much bulkier, have parts which can wear out, usually top out around 90 lbs. (although PowerBlock makes a series that goes much heavier).I got these, and the longer handles, when the gyms closed. But before I did, I was using a set of spin-lock dumbbells I found in my parents’ garage – which were about 25 years old, a bit rusty but otherwise fully functional! Old school, gets the job done. One thing, though: the rubber washers on the handles will get chewed up within a few months – too thin and soft, will get squished (extruded) into the small gap between the threaded shaft and the holes of the first plates. I recommend replacing these with thicker, wider, and firmer ones, like these, which work perfectly: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PMP45HP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_bRU3FbNDP5RP5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
